A passion for creation...

I first found my love for drawing at an arts day in middle school, where a local student at Lyme Arts Academy came in to teach us how to draw objects in front of us with directional light and shading. After an hour this was my finished piece and that college student praised it, even asking me if I had taken classes outside school (I had not.) Ever since then I have constantly practiced drawing and shading in my classes and during my free time. All the while attempting to teach myself how to get better at making my drawings feel real, or in some cases just letting my imagination run free.

However, it wasn't until Summer 2019 that I tried digital art for the first time. It quickly grew to be my favorite medium of art. Although without a stylus, I was using my finger and an iPad to draw for the first year and little. My crown drawing of my time with the iPad was my school senior project. I made a poster of drawings for each of the 7 senior players on my basketball team as a gift for our 7th and final season. Although Covid-19 cancelled our state championship run, I still finished my gift and was able to give it out in June 2020.

Since the start of college however, I have been using my laptop along with a 6-in drawing pad and stylus. I still use the pc version of Autodesk SketchBook for my creations with some traditional pencil or pen drawings here and there. But the size and quality of my projects just keep getting bigger and better with every vision I set out to illustrate. My most ambitious project yet being a highly detailed perspective backgound with some of my favorite things. At this point it is still a work in progress and far from being finished.

My hope is to one day combine my passion for art and my desire to problem solve in a job where I get to use both my Purdue Mechanical Engineering Degree and my drawing experience.
